Sunday Aug. 3, 2008

Had a wonderful time and Wow are we smart now. We took in so much History, our brains hurt from being so full J Our feet too, NO that is not because that is where our brains are!!!!!! Lots of walking. We seen it all, White House, American History Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, the Capital Building, got a tour of the inside of that with Andrew, a college student from Madison, Wi that is working for Senator Russ Feingold. While we were waiting in the waiting room/office for the tour, I sat behind an empty desk, and someone came in and gave me an invitation, thought I worked there, I took it, too. Turned it over to Andrew tho. What a building the Capital Bld is, Lots of bucks there in Art and Marble. Steps and walkways and just floors are all marble. Nothing cheap about our government. Only the very best with our tax monies.

One thing that really impressed us was the subway system, we have never rode on a subway before, wow do they move a lot of people in a short time. It was pretty easy to figure it out too. We took a metro bus from our campground to the subway station and got on the subway and then could transferred at different points, depending on where we were going, then hop back on and go somewhere else if it was too far to walk, well most of the time we thought it wasn’t too far so we walked, and figured out it was longer than we wanted. So walked a lot. Got lots of pictures. At Arlington National Cemetery , we got to see the “Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers” and the changing of the guards. It changes every hour, and put on a show every time. I got movies of that. Well are planning on camping in North Carolina tonight so will give more updates later. Having a good time. For all of you that are going to come to the River Rat Party, Boating 2 don’t forget to let me know if you need a camp site, they have to paid for in advance. Weekend before Labor Day Weekend. Hope to see most of you at Debbie’s wedding on Friday. 8/08/08/
